A New Project: 2D Platformer

A strategic platformer where players collect materials and build platforms to climb and reach the end of each level. The project we’re building in the Video Game Design Club, “Platform Builder,” is an exciting, strategic platformer designed to challenge players in a unique and dynamic way. The game revolves around collecting materials to construct platforms, allowing players to climb and complete levels that test their resourcefulness and problem-solving skills. What makes Platform Builder stand out is its genre-shifting environments—each level has a unique theme, from a futuristic space station with zero-gravity effects to a haunted mansion where eerie fog restricts visibility. As players advance, they encounter new challenges and enemies that disrupt their progress, pushing them to adapt their strategies on the fly. The ultimate goal is to prove their worth and become part of an elite group known as “The Guardians,” protectors of the universe, by overcoming each obstacle and mastering various puzzle mechanics.

This project is not only about creating an engaging gameplay experience but also about building skills and fostering collaboration among club members. Our club operates as a cohesive team, with roles divided among programmers, artists, and sound designers, allowing us to bring diverse ideas and talents to life in the game. Everyone is deeply involved in the creative process, from designing unique level mechanics to refining character interactions. Being part of the club means working closely with peers, brainstorming together, and experimenting with different approaches, all while honing our individual skills in game development.
